To demonstrate your knowledge of some of these issues, you will complete a research paper that explores an age-related issue or challenge that is of interest to you. You will also apply what you have learned about gerontological social work by discussing implications for social work practice and examine its relationship to the chosen topic.
Purpose
This research paper is designed for you to closely examine and develop a better understanding of an age-related issue or challenge. Despite the global awareness of the baby boomers and our anticipated ‘aged society’, older adults have been viewed as a forgotten area of practice, largely because society is unaware of the complex challenges they face. Completing this assignment will broaden your understanding of older adults by not only researching a particular issue but will strengthen your understanding of the integral role social workers have with this population.
Completing this assessment will help you achieve the following learning outcomes:
